Building the Economic Future for New Mexico's Farmers and Ranchers
The Santa Fe Farmers’ Market Institute is a nonprofit educational organization founded in 2002 to support the Santa Fe Farmers’ Market. The Institute’s purpose is to fund, build and manage a permanent Farmers’ Market in Santa Fe’s Railyard district; to implement programs to promote agriculture and other land-based traditions in northern New Mexico; and to educate consumers about the cultural, nutritional and economic benefits of buying locally produced foods and agricultural products.
A Permanent Home for the Market
The Institute signed an 80-year lease on Lot H in the Railyard in 2005. The Institute is now under contract with the design/build team of Cameron Construction in Santa Fe and Huitt Zollars Architects in Albuquerque to design and build a sustainable building that will meet the nation’s most rigorous green standards. On August 6, 2007, the project officially broke ground. Construction should be completed by the summer of 2008.

With more than 90% raised of the $4.6 million needed, the Santa Fe Farmers’ Market Institute needs you and the regional community to donate to this valuable and beloved Santa Fe tradition! We have raised $4.2 Million; we need $400,000 to finish the project debt-free!
