SANTA FE FARMERS’ MARKET ANNOUNCES SUNDAY COMMUNITY FAIR

The Santa Fe Farmers’ Market, which runs New Mexico’s largest and oldest farmers’ market, now in its 43rd year, announces the launch of a new market at the Santa Fe Farmers’ Market building in the Railyard.

The Sunday Community Fair will feature local artists and craftspeople from New Mexico, farmers, ranchers and makers of jams, salsas and other value added products, as well as musicians, food, refreshments and entertainment. Slated to begin in late April or early May, the Fair is intended to help build a stronger local economy, support small businesses and celebrate our community.

"It also brings the added benefits of more activity in the Railyard, facilitates a new venue for the artists and craftspeople of the region, and helps to support the Santa Fe Farmers’ Market organization," said Tim Vos, executive director of the Santa Fe Farmers’ Market, which will manage the new Fair.

Sunday Community Fair hours will be 11 am to 4 pm. All products offered in the Fair will be evaluated through a jury process that seeks high quality, local artists, craftspeople and artisanal foods committed to the spirit and values of this fair and a diverse Santa Fe community.

The Santa Fe Farmers’ Market built its reputation on featuring high quality, locally grown agricultural products from small-scale farmers throughout northern New Mexico. Similarly, the Sunday Community Fair will feature arts and crafts produced in New Mexico by the artists themselves. No reselling will be allowed. Farmers and ranchers who participate in the Sunday Community Fair will continue to follow the Santa Fe Farmers’ Market rules, which are among the strictest in the nation to ensure the integrity, quality and authenticity of the agricultural products offered.

"This Fair will extend the Santa Fe Farmers’ Market commitment to cultivating local economic development in all its dimensions, and we hope it will greatly enhance the vitality of the Railyard," Vos said. "With more than 40 years of experience running markets, we have the track record, skills and infrastructure to make this new market venue succeed."

The Sunday Community Fair already has more than 200 individuals interested in becoming vendors. Applications are now available at the Santa Fe Farmers’ Market office and website. For more information on being a vendor at the Fair, contact Alexandra Merlino at alex@santafefarmersmarket.com
