What is a signature item that you sell? Goats Milk Soap from Nigerian Dwarf Dairy Goats. We were the first at the market to sell a lotion bar. Our Belly Jelly is good for massage and pregnant women.

What’s the best way to store it? In an airtight box.  Keeps indefinitely. Gets harder as it cures.

How long have you been farming? Since 1992

How long have you been a member of the Market? 15 years

Share a favorite memory of the Market: I helped with the building of the new farmer’s market facility, enjoyed the experience and creativity of creating the interior and other parts of the pavilion.

How did you get into farming? I grew up in this environment.  My mother started this company with one goat.  She makes the balms and other products.  My wife, Natalie, makes the soaps and I also help with making bulk soaps.

Do you own or rent the land you grow on? Own

Are you certified organic? Not certified, but we use only organic olive oil, coconut and other essential oils.   We do not use Palm oils. We also sell essential oils with a blend of herbs added for local context: Pinon, Sage and Lavender, Cowboy Spirit, French Lavender

Is the season on schedule? Any complications? The goats are generally on schedule, however, this year was a little later. My father passed away on Feb. 6th and it slowed the business down a little.

Besides farming, what takes up your time? It is all about family, taking care of the goats and selling their goods.   This keeps us all very busy. My sister, Jessie has 3 children and I have 2 children.

How would you describe yourself in one word? Dreamer

What is your favorite dish to make? Celery and bacon kebobs

Red or Green? Both

If you were a super hero what would your powers be and why? To be able to fly….

Which veg/fruit speaks to you on a personal level and how? White peaches – I love when they come into season.  They give me hope and remind me to keep trying.

What have you done that you are most proud of? Helped build a home for my family

Day in the life of a farmer: Feed goats, turn on sprinkler to water (usually all day), fix a fence, dig a hole, fix tractor or rototiller, bookwork, catch an escaped goat
